Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis Tuesday picked up the backing of a group looking to halt car insurance fraud.
New Yorkers Stand Against Auto Insurance Fraud (NYSAIF) endorsed Ms. Malliotakis in her re-election bid, giving her its “Driver Endorsed” seal of approval.
“Assemblywoman Malliotakis has promised to stand by drivers this year in Albany, so New York drivers will stand by her in this election,” said organization spokesman David Schwartz.
Auto insurance fraud, like staged accidents, has cost New York drivers more than $1 billion dollars in insurance premiums in the last five years, the group says.
“Without real reform in Albany, people will continue to abuse the system at the expense of all New Yorkers,” said Ms. Malliotakis (R-East Shore/Brooklyn). “We need sensible reforms that will prevent fraud while keeping necessary protections for motorists in place. I’m proud to join NYSAIF in the ongoing fight against the crime and dishonesty that drives up the already unreasonable cost of living in our state.”
